Getting a passport appointment slot remains to be a problem for applicants despite the thousands of slots opened everyday by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

According to RicarteAbejuela III, acting director of the DFA’s Passport Division, this problem is due to a “very, very high” demand for appointment slots. Some 40,000 people try to book slots every day but the DFA could only open 12,000.

“If you can’t find it today, then we encourage you to try again tomorrow because we open slots on a daily basis,” Abejuela said. “We open slots gradually, hindiisangbuhos.”
